The LSPJ Team take second place at the International Research Project Olympiad 2025
The team from La Salle PJ emerged second at the International Research Project Olympiad 2025 in Bandung. The team consisting of Ameer Akmal Kamaruddin, Razin Izhar Abdulahman, and Sharvin Puspanathan beat more than 80 other participating schools from across the globe including Ukraine, China and Egypt with their “Solar Breeze” which involves a mini hand fan that runs on solar energy. The boys were accompanied by LSPJ Principal Dr. Premala Jacob and Cikgu Yasmin Amin who also mentored the team.
The competition is aimed fostering international collaboration and innovation among student researchers.
The team from LSPJ were informed that they had made it to the finals at the end of June. At the time, there was some hesitation as to whether they would be able to participate due to the high cost involved in traveling to Bandung. An appeal was made to the Old Lasallians and within a week, a sum of RM3,000 was raised.
During the presentation of funds which took place early last week, Dr. Jacob said the Old Lasallians “showed no hesitation” when asked to support the boys.
The team were also presented with new bespoke blazers to make them feel confident.
The win is great achievement and will hopefully serve as a catalyst in encouraging and motivating more LSPJ boys to achieve similar or greater feats.
Thank you to the Old Lasallians who contributed to this win.
