Alumni Nostalgia

8am, CNY 1972.
I started off from home on my red Raleigh racing bike and headed to my classmate Fook Tim’s house. After some cookies and F&N orange crush, Tim jumped on his bike and we were off to Lim’s house nearby for more cookies and orange crush. Then the three of us were off to Ho’s house. By 3pm the bicycle gang were 12-strong, tummies filling up with cookies, kuaci, tarts and orange crush, and pockets filling up with ang pow packets! By 6pm it was time to call it a day, leg muscles sore from cycling, and jaw muscles sore from all the eating, talking and laughing. Those were simpler days with my LaSallian brothers. The bicycle gang comprised Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasian boys, oblivious to any differences between us. Just good pals looking to have a good time!

Wonderful days where race was never something we thought about!!!
